Current Information:Age-22 Born-Barking On 29th October, 1915, 5th Royal Berkshire of 35 Brigade, 12th Division, took over part of the front line in the Loos sector. The Battle of Loos had only just drawn to a close at this time and there was still a lot of hostile activity to contend with. The battalion diary for 30th October records that it was a “quiet day”, but not quiet enough for Private Wagstaff who was one of the two men killed in action on that day. There is no information on how he was killed but it was likely to have been as a result of enemy artillery fire. |
